New Grass Roots Grants In Milton Keynes

Are you a Small Local Community Group looking for funding for new or existing activities? Then ask us about Grassroots Grants! Milton Keynes Community Foundation has won a Government bid to distribute £270,487 directly to local charitable groups over the next three years as part of a nationwide ‘Grassroots Grants’ programme - a drive by the Government to support groups and projects throughout the country to improve local communities.Supported by a team of representatives from the local community, the Foundation will be using its knowledge and expertise of the local area to identify those organisations best able to use the money to make a real difference.
Groups can apply for Grassroots Grants of between £250- £5,000 if they:

Have been active in the local community for at least 12 months. Organisations do not need to have been formally constituted for this time, but must be able to show that they have been active as a group e.g. working with the local Community Mobiliser

Have an annual turnover of less than £20,000. This is an average over 3 years.

Are volunteer led or mainly run by volunteers, perhaps with a part time staff member.

Grants are available for new work and to continue existing work.
Running alongside the programme is an ‘Endowment Challenge Scheme’ offering match funding from the Office of the Third Sector. This will enable the Foundation to turn each £3 raised in local donations into almost £5.
For local businesses and philanthropists who do their giving through this scheme, the value of their donations will almost double, and funds raised could reach more than £800k for the city in the three year period. The income from these funds will then be managed by the Milton Keynes Community Foundation to provide long term, sustainable, financial support for the city’s charities and projects.
The first deadline for grant applications is 12th September 2008.
